Its low-noise, high-gain design may improve the overall receiver noise performance. However, improvement may be limited or not noticeable when used with receivers that already have excellent sensitivity. Actual results depend on receiver performance, antenna characteristics, feedline loss, and the surrounding RF environment. ### Installation and Operating Precautions **1. Initial Testing** Before permanent installation, perform several days of bench testing to verify correct operation and transmit/receive switching. **2. Recommended Antennas** Use a dedicated 1200MHz Yagi antenna or single-band ground-plane antenna. Multiband antennas are not recommended because strong signals from other frequency bands may cause damage to the preamplifier. **3. Separation from Transmitting Antennas** Maintain sufficient separation from other transmitting antennas. Strong RF signals may damage the preamplifier even when transmitted on different frequencies. Turn off the preamplifier when transmitting on other frequency bands. However, turning off the power alone does not necessarily protect the amplifier from strong RF signals. Adequate antenna separation and RF protection measures may still be required. Preamplifiers without an RF bypass circuit may be damaged by strong nearby transmissions even when powered off. **4. Power Supply and Grounding** Whenever possible, use a common DC power supply for the receiver and preamplifier. If separate power supplies are used, ensure that their negative/GND connections are properly bonded. **5. Lightning and Surge Protection** Low-noise preamplifiers are sensitive to induced lightning surges and electrical transients. Appropriate protection measures are recommended, including: - Surge protection on the power supply system - Coaxial lightning arresters - Proper grounding of antenna towers and roof towers Lightning protection devices cannot guarantee complete protection against lightning damage. Stop operation during nearby thunderstorms and follow appropriate safety precautions. ### Additional Notes This product is intended for amateur radio and experimental applications.
